Obama – Romney
Debate
October 3, 2012 7:00

Why did anyone
expect this debate
to be civil??
The debate began
with Aries Rising
and its ruler, Mars,
in Scorpio. The
Moon was in Taurus
applying to the
conjunction of the
South Node and the
opposite to the
North Node and
Mars. Venus in
Virgo was within 8
minutes of an exact
opposition to
Neptune, and Mercury
was conjunct Saturn
within 2 degrees.
Pluto in the 9th
house was the most
elevated planet and
within 40 minutes of
an exact square to
Uranus.
My first thought
about the debates
was pretty much in
line with the Venus
– Neptune opposition
– that if I was
going to watch
fiction, I'd rather
see a movie. It's
hard to sit through
listening to false
claims and
promises--where are
the fact checkers??
Mars is the "god of
war." Aries usually
represents a hot
temper, but Mars in
Scorpio can be cool
and calculated,
waiting for the
kill. Interestingly
the Moon was in
Taurus, the money
sign of the Zodiac,
and Mars was in the
8th
house, which
represents debt.
So, are we surprised
that there would be
conflict over the
economy. It should
be pointed out that
Mars is in an
out-of-sign T-square
with Venus and
Neptune, so this
brings reiterates
"fiction" and
deception.
The continuing
Uranus – Pluto
square is the
backdrop for the
socio-economic
conditions and
social unrest in
today's world.
Uranus in Aries –
individuals fighting
for freedom –
against – Pluto in
Capricorn –
conservative power
structures. This
far reaching transit
continues for the
next few years,
impacting far more
than just the US
presidential
election. It's
unfortunate that
both the Democrats
and the Republicans
refuse to allow the
Green Party, Justice
Party, or
Libertarian Party
candidates to
debate. These
candidates would
more clearly
represent Uranus in
Aries – as both the
Democrats and
Republicans share
the power structure
of Pluto in
Capricorn.
The Mercury – Saturn
conjunction set a
serious tone. As
Saturn ruled the MC
of the debate.
Aspects in Obama's
chart include the
transiting Moon
close to his IC and
transiting Mars
close to his MC,
both square his
Uranus – Node
conjunction,
transiting Venus
sextile his Venus,
and Jupiter
separating from a
trine to his
Ascendant. The
Jupiter trine had
passed – so in a
sense, his good
fortune (at least
for the moment) had
passed.
Interestingly
enough, one would
have thought that
Mars at the top of
the chart would have
benefitted him –
after all, as the
president, in
essence, he
personifies the
authority figure.
But perhaps because
the economy is not
his forte, he didn't
feel that way.
In Romney's chart
transiting Mars and
transiting North
Node conjoined his
Moon – Jupiter
conjunction, and
transiting Jupiter conjoined
his Uranus within a
degree and a half.
Jupiter is the
planet that
represents "good
fortune."
Conjunctions are the
strongest planetary
aspects. Romney had
two conjunctions
involving Jupiter
the night of the
debate. Luck went
his way.
